YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE with Dr Peter Lovatt
An off-the-shelf keynote presentation
YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE is packed with knowledge, clear take away messages and four dances to have you and your delegates feeling creative, powerful, socially bonded and full of energy.
Across five sections this YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE off-the-shelf keynote brings to life the evidence for why moving together enhances relationships, why people think differently when they move, why our emotions are linked to our body movement and how our genes, hormones and neurochemicals are linked to changes in our movement. Peter also tells his amazing personal story, of how he overcame a severe reading difficulty to transform from dancer to Doc at Cambridge University.
Specially recorded at the Pavilion Theatre, YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE is the perfect partner for your webinar, team meeting, live conference or large virtual event.
Based on Peter’s live, audience-facing, keynote presentations, YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE off-the-shelf keynote is designed to inspire, educate and entertain.
Dr Peter Lovatt is a Dance Psychologist and known as Dr Dance. He’s spent over 20 years working in university research labs investigating the science of movement, human behaviour and thinking.
Before becoming a scientist, Peter was a professional dancer.
YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE presents a beautifully choreographed combination of evidence-based knowledge and groove, and can be applied in the business, education, or health and social care settings.
Peter loves the power of the spoken work and the moving body. That’s why there are no PowerPoint slides in YOU MOVE – YOU IMPROVE.
The full-length recording is 50 minutes.

"Peter was amazing at Qualtrics - he brought an awesome energy to the room that got people fired up, dancing and learning at the same time. It was a great experience from start to finish and I can't wait to hear him speak again."
Dr Peter Lovatt is a Psychologist and former professional dancer. He spent over twenty years working in university research labs, where he looked at the relationship between the brain and the body. His extraordinary findings show that when you move you improve. The human brain is specialised for movement, and when you move your body you optimise the brain’s performance.
Peter’s keynotes are about human movement, and the impact movement has on our relationships, our thinking and our emotions.
Peter delivers groovy keynotes which, in the words of Qualtrics CEO, Ryan Smith, bring an awesome energy to the room and get people fired up.
“Yo, good job!”
One of Peter’s favourite keynote sessions was in 2018. He was speaking between Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the smash-hit musical Hamilton, and Earvin “Magic” Johnson, the legendary basketball superstar. As he came off stage, to a standing ovation, he was fist-bumped by “Magic” in the wings, who said with a deep and slow voice, “Yo, good job”.
Since then, Peter has shared keynote sessions with the chat-show legend, Oprah Winfrey, the 44th President of the USA, Barack Obama, the founder of the Virgin group, Sir Richard Branson, the Oscar-winning actor, Geena Davis and the co-founder of Apple computers, Steve “the Woz” Wozniak. Peter Lovatt is a world-class speaker.
Peter sometimes includes his own inspirational story in his keynote presentations. He speaks abouthow he overcame a severe reading difficulty as an adult and went on to win a post-doctoral position in the Faculty of English at Cambridge University.
Peter is able to deliver any of his keynote sessions in three ways:
As a pre-recorded video
As a live-stream

Peter has delivered variants of The Dance Cure keynote and workshops at leadership events, to large corporate audiences, at tech conferences, with education providers and with health and social care providers.

Optimum - 7 Steps to Excellence Keynote & Workshop
Peter has been teaching mental skills at the Royal Ballet School for several years. The Royal Ballet School strives for, and demands, excellence. It is unapologetic in its pursuit of perfection.
Excellence depends on a set of mental skills.
In the Optimum – 7 Steps to Excellence Keynote, Peter looks at 7 mental skills that are essential for excellence.
Each mental skill is based on a continuum, practiced at either end of that continuum they can lead to self-sabotage and failure, but practiced at the optimum level they can lay the foundations for success and excellence.
In the Optimum – 7 Steps to Excellence Keynote, Peter describes the 7 mental skills, and shows how people can find their optimum level on each one, creating mental harmony and a path towards excellence.
In the Optimum – 7 Steps to Excellence Workshop Peter looks at 7 mental skills that are essential for excellence. Energizer Session - stand, shake, sync, smile
Sitting for long periods of time at conferences and events can have a terrible effect on the way people think and process information.
If people sit for too long they eventually switch off, and they miss essential information and experiences.
In this Energizer session Peter quickly gets the audience up and moving in just a few minutes. It’s perfect for waking up a room and stimulating people’s thinking, increasing energy levels and engagement.
The Stand Shake Sync & Smile Energiser is a micro-keynote, with both points of learning and moving, lasting between 5-15 minutes. It’s perfect as a mid-morning energizer, at the beginning of the afternoon session or in the middle of the afternoon session, when people might otherwise be falling asleep.
If you want your audience to stay alert for a whole day, Peter can use difference versions of the Stand Shake Sync & Smile Energizer at several points throughout your event.
Energizer Duration: 5-15 minutes
