Dame Darcey Bussell is the guest editor for this issue of Dance Gazette. In this most challenging of years, it feels right that the beloved ballerina and President of the RAD has shaped an issue with a special emphasis on the way dance impacts on mental health and wellbeing, even in difficult circumstances.
Darcey speaks to psychologists with performance expertise, and we also meet dancers from New Zealand as they emerge from lockdown. We learn how Audrey Hepburn – Darcey’s favourite movie star – drew on her ballet training to forge her unique career, while a timely discussion explores how Black Lives Matter may change ballet forever.
